Last drops of summer
Despite Halloween décor emerging everywhere and the aroma of Pumpkin Spice Lattes lingering in the air, I keep holding on to summer and trying to wear my favorites as much as I can. Fortunately, the weather still permits for breezy beach dresses and gladiator sandals, so I am taking full advantage before the temperatures drop and this beautiful maxi gets pushed in the back of my closet till next summer.
I received this gorgeous embroidered number from Shein a few months ago and intended for it to become my perfect vacation dress that looks equally great as a cover up for beach days or dressed up with wedges and statement accessories for dinners out. While our vacation was beyond amazing, it was also crazy with our two little munchkins, so I didn’t get a chance to photograph it for the blog as I initially planned. So I am catching up now, using the last sizzling hot days to wear it and to say that I love it is an understatement!
Must-have vacation staple
When I think of “breezy beach attire” I always imagine a white maxi dress, but in this case the embroidery takes center stage and it is a total game changer. Just add a fancy tropical cocktail and the sound of the ocean waves for a picture perfect vacation moment. Makes me want to start planning our next summer getaway already, because this dress is definitely the first thing going in the suitcase!
You might remember my key points on why I like a certain brand.
Shein offers a lot of trendy items, and while some of them might be too risqué for my taste, there is also a huge selection of trendy items right up my alley.
I love a good challenge of building a great look without breaking the bank and mixing high and low. SheIn offers really affordable pieces, most of them under $50, including outerwear.
Quality is very important to me, and I always try to consider how a garment will hold up after a few washes. Read on for the quality review and a couple of shopping tips below.
In addition to the eye catching design,
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality as well. The dress is actually a two piece, including a short slip dress under (you can choose to go without it if you are using it as a cover up), and the embroidery is very well done. I saw it worn without a belt, but in my case I thought it overwhelmed my frame and was too loose without one, so I added some shape with a tan skinny belt.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with this maxi: the look, the quality, and versatility make it a wonderful summer staple, plus it didn’t need any alterations. Normally I have a hard time finding a maxi dress I can wear with flats without any alterations (I am 5’3” and prefer to style my maxi dresses with flat sandals for a casual relaxed look). In this case the length is perfect.
